Français Langue de Scolarisation et Enseignement à Distance : entre difficultés et réussites, comment nourrir la motivation des apprenants ?

Abstract : Distance learning has become a pedagogical modality for many schools around the world following the Covid-19 epidemic. The allophone students of the International French School in Singapore have seen their schooling modified: no longer having access to the school, they have had to continue their learning in virtual classrooms and in autonomy. This essay seeks to highlight the difficulties encountered and the successes of home-based-learning, from the perspective of learner motivation. Through qualitative research, based on interviews, observations and questionnaires, we have tried to identify the factors that generate, nourish and help to maintain motivation in French as a foreign language, when the teacher and the learners are physically separated.
