Master Thesis

La littératie visuelle pour favoriser les apprentissages et la motivation des élèves

Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to understand how pupils will develop media tools and will understand the world better when they use visual literacy as a base of a learning method. These questions are broached under the point of view of cultural and educational mediation. They will get a more analytic perspective thus developing more open and alert minds. When using visual literacy their memory will be more active and it will motivate them to learn more. We will discuss the facilitation of cultural and educational actions in two different projects. In the first one, called «Remotivation», a class of Eighth graders and in the second one, a class of Ninth graders took in « Portes ouvertes virtuelles » (« virtual open doors ») were «teached to look» differently using the cinema medium and. open doors»).The main theme of both projects was «the pedagogy of doing» and they were supported by united educational teams, cultural partners and the children’s parents. By using an alternative pedagogic approach, visual literacy takes in consideration the diversity of the pupils' profiles and gives more sense to each pupil's own journey.
