Influence des molécules anti-cancéreuses sur le parodonte

Abstract : There are many undesirable side effects known and classified in the anti-cancer treatment literature on the oral cavity, with mainly the risks of radionecrosis linked to radiotherapy, mucositis induced by chemotherapy, targeted therapies or radiotherapy, xerostomia, dysgeusia, dysphagia, odynophagia, burning or tingling sensations with pain and tenderness of the mucous membranes and gums. However, the influence of anti-cancer molecules on the periodontium has been poorly described in the literature. The aim of this review of the literature is to list and classify the anticancer molecules used in the different treatments, to highlight the influence of these molecules on the periodontium during but also after the anticancer treatment and to propose a periodontal protocol for patients going to receive or undergoing cancer treatment in order to improve their future quality of life.
