Vernacular urbanism, unearthing lessons through urban analysis to increase urban sustainability in the Middle East : an analysis of Al Ula Old Town
Résumé
At a time of heightened urban challenges, there is a growing voice urging us to look back at how our ancestors built cities. This thesis examines if vernacular knowledge in the middle east is first needed by architects and urban designers, and if so, what are some of the lessons that we can deduce in order to increase some aspects of urban sustainability.
