This study is based on the creation of an FLE (French as foreign language) teaching system for young people aged between six and ten, in an extra-curricular context in Italy. This system is based on the use of a comparative approach to languages and linguistic systems as an introductory phase to learning FLE, with the aim of developing learners' metalinguistic stance, learning strategies and openness to the Other, thereby promoting the learning of the foreign language. The implementation of this system has produced concrete results, highlighting the advantages of such an approach in the language classroom.
