Étude et analyse des besoins pour l'élaboration d'un outil de Suivi et d'Information après un AVC‎ : EASI-AVC, Volet : patients

Abstract : Introduction: Stroke are 130000 new cases per year in France. On their return home, patients express a need for large and diverse informations. Method: The main objective of this study is to assess the information need of patients on secondary prevention. The experiences of patients at different stages of their care is also a subject of interest. For this, a qualitative approach was chosen with semi-structured interviews performed on 23 patients in June and July 2011. Nine patients were interviewed at home, seven at the Neurovascular Unit of Grenoble University Hospital and seven during rehabilitation. Results: If the diagnosis and the stroke mechanism are well known, patients have significant lacks regarding the knowledge of the principles of secondary prevention. Thus, the concept of atheroma is almost unknown. It appears that the experience of the disease is different depending on the treatment stage. However, there are similarities such as the notion of a life to rebuild and the fear of recurrence. The invisible neuropsychological after effects cause significant disability. If patients welcome the efforts made by doctors to transmit information during the acute phase, it is hardly integrated. Back home, most of themhad some questions and almost all of them would benefit from documentation on stroke. Conclusion: The development of an information tool is viewed positively by patients. But it seems that such a tool cannot be designed without associated verbal information.
