L'extension du parc de Brondeloire : équilibre entre valeurs écologiques et valeurs d'usages en milieu urbain

Abstract : Sustainable development, biodiversity protection, eco-friendly products and using, ecological preoccupations are part of our daily life trough media, communication and electoral campaigns. Though when we say "biodiversity", it's large spaces, forest or mountains that come to mind first. However, biodiversity does exist in cities and the context gives specific issues. Landscape designers are able to bring nature into the city and that's why they have an important role to play when it comes to consider biodiversity in urban projects. As public space designers, they design both social life scene and nature spaces that bring wellbeing to citizens. So they hold few levers to permit nature and urbanity, which seems not to match, to coexist. All the difficulty is to find the balance between the two of them. This essay defines the term of biodiversity, its specific nature in urban area and few French tools that help to develop it. Then, based on a project in north of France, it propose examples of creation that show how the landscape designer can help to develop biodiversity in a context where the urban pressure is very strong.
