Pyrèthre naturel et stratégie de lutte contre la cicadelle de la flavescence dorée en viticulture biologique

Abstract : Flavescence dorée is an incurable disease which ravages European vineyards. It is transmitted from a plant to another by the leafhopper insect vector Scaphoideus titanus Ball. To struggle efficiently against the spread of this disease, mandatory treatment perimeters have been set in contaminated area. These mandatory treatments also concern organic vineyards. Only one insecticide is authorized against Scaphoideus titanus in organic viticulture: the Pyrévert. Some localized observations reveal abnormally high trapping rates of adult leafhoppers in Pyrévert-treated plots. This study aims at indentifying parameters that can have influence on the struggle implying Pyrevert in order to set an efficient strategy for the collective fight. The approach is a "field-approach": 48 organic vine plots have been followed in Aquitaine. Larval countings and adult trapping have been conducted. Moreover, information about the plots, the treatments, the spraying etc... were collected through questionnaires. Thus, we showed that on almost a third of the plots, the trapped adult threshold was crossed. Only one Pyrevert treatment is often not enough to control the population because the emergences can last until 2 months. It is suggested to delay, if possible, the 1st treatment so it can affect more larvae. Other factors seem to have their importance: the use of Pyrévert mixed with Copper and Sulfur, presence of vine branches. The more treatments there are, the less risks there are. When 3 treatments are sprayed, only important technical problems seem to lead to a failure.
