Relations entre morphologie urbaine, microclimat et confort des piétons : application au cas des écoquartiers

Abstract : The large urban agglomerations are quite often held responsible for a great deal of negative impact on the micro-climatic changes, more precisely the so called "urban heat island". The rise of the temperature, a consequence of the latter phenomenon, apart from the inconvenience that the residents undergo, results in an increase in terms of energy consumption dedicated to air-conditioning. The urbanists, along with the civil engineers and the architects have therefore to tackle with a new project : to implement new methods that will mitigate the negative impact of the urban agglomeration on the micro-climate, and therefore improve the conditions that the urban residents'experience. In the current work, we are focused in studying the correlation between the urban morphology, the micro-climate and the thermal ambiance. In order to do so, a calculation of a set of indices is performed, with the aid of dedicated software packages (Solene and Gambit) and by analysing real data taken from three different eco-quartiers : the "Tripode" and the "Bottière Chênaie" in the city of Nantes and the "Lyon Confluence" in the city of Lyon, France . A comparative analysis allows us to deduce the impact of the different quartiers' geometries on the micro-climate conditions as well as to the thermal comfort in exterior spaces. The last part of the study is dedicated to quantify the results, demonstrating the differences in the micro-climate and the thermal comfort, due to the varying geometrical (morphological) aspects of the analyzed agglomerated areas.
