Résolution de problèmes arithmétiques simples. Quel rôle joue la commutativité ?

Abstract : Problem solving is a mathematical field which is a major issue at school and in everyday life. This study explores the use of the commutative property to solve problems. Twenty-four addition tasks were administered early in the schoolyear to 30 preschool children, 30 children in their first and 30 children in their second year of primary school. The findings suggest that grade level, type of task, operand-order and distance between operands have an impact on problem solving performance.
