Quelles médiations marchandes et sociales pour favoriser le développement des circuits courts alimentaires ? Diagnostic et perspectives à partir de l'expérimentation d'un nouveau système d'étiquetage sur un marché de plein vent

Abstract : Founded in 2008 , the open air market from Grabels promotes short food supply chain. This market is managed according to a specific governance: a tripartite market's board (exhibitors, consumers and elected coucillors) and a charter dealing with the conditions for production and sale, this charter is signed by the exhibitors. Transparency on the origin of goods and on practices of purchase-resale is heightened by an innovative labelling. A distinction between the proper production of the exhibitor and the one from a colleague and the one from short food supply chain, is allowed by a three coloured labeling. Our study, based on the example of the market from Grabels, analyses social and merchant roles and impacts of these three mediations: market Board, charter and labelling. In order to achieve this analysis, we based our study on interviews of consumers from Grabels and exhibitors. Since the labeling is set up, with the charter and the market Board, we have noticed that the supply practices of exhibitors for resale or transformation have evolved toward a supply with local producers, attending or not the market. To ensure that exhibitors respect the charter and labelling, it appears necessary to set up a monitoring. The labeling gives a new information to consumers who favour local goods sold with at most an intermediary. The charter and the market Board strengthened the confidence they grant to the market.
