Une approche nouvelle de la philosophie au cycle III : la collection des petits Platons

Abstract : At first, the growth of philosophy for a young audience, initiated in France since 2000, wasn't important, yet now it has significantly increased thanks to its late success. Nevertheless, the quite recent aspect of this development goes hand in hand with a lack of unity. Philosophy for a young audience overlaps a plurality of approach, thought confirming some common principals with, is far from using the same methods to initiate reflection with children. The area of children's books reflects this plurality of approaches by releasing philosophy manuals/textbooks which focus on themes or questions which are either illustrated by fiction or not. Using concrete experiences of the child is often preferred in order to appeal to the reflective abilities of the pupil. In the midst of these approaches, a new publishing house offers an innovative method by using traditional philosophy : indeed, the albums of Les petits Platons dramatizes fiction in which the hero is a real philosopher. The storylines are based on the philosophical fictions the philosopher created himself in his works. The present work aims to study this collection, and to identify the underlying conceptions of the child and of the philosophy which are developed through its principles.
