Le Portfolio Européen des Langues au service du lien entre estime de soi et prise de parole en continu en classe d’anglais

Abstract : Speaking in English in front of the class is often considered as difficult for some students. Indeed, it is not their mother tongue. Moreover, some students do not have a high self-esteem… How could we make this situation evolve? This question rises interrogations. When do we consider that a student lacks self-esteem? How is it possible to improve it when they speak in English in front of the whole class? Starting from these questions, we tried to find a tool that could be used to develop self-esteem when students speak in front of the class. Is the European Language Portfolio a relevant tool? This self-assessment tool was introduced by the European Council in 2001. How could the European Language Portfolio allow the students to build up their self-esteem and to feel confident before they speak in English in front of the whole class? This is what we will see in this essay.
