L'urbanisation de la plaine du Var à Nice : la place du végétal dans une " Eco-Vallée "

Abstract : Plants occupy now an undisputed place in the city. This report aims to understand how plants are taken into account in urban planning. Using the example of the urbanization of the plain of the Var in Nice, it questions the way in which the vegetation is thought and operated. The National Interest Operation launched for the urban development of the plain is called Eco-Valley. This economic and ecological notion, presupposes an innovative and ambitious use of the plant, tool of the landscape designer. Since parks and gardens are elements of urban space reorganization, it is interesting to ask how plants are treated in Nice’s situation. The moments of its taking into account and the motivations of its use are also decisive. The artificialization of Nice territory faces criticism and is questioned. Is the vegetation of the Eco-Valley is considered as a compensation for the urbanization of the plain ? It is to all of these questions that we will try to answer through a multiscalar approach. The objective is to take a critical look at the use of plants in a particular context where the relationship between urbanization and landscape is an issue to be defined.
