Intérêt de l'imagerie dans le diagnostic des lésions malignes des maxillaires

Abstract : Malignant tumors of the jaw, whatever their state, primitive, secondary or metastatic, are rare but very varied. Their discovery may be related to the manifestation of clinical signs or during a routine radiological examination. If a definitive diagnosis is established by histological data, it is first assumed by clinical and radiological information. Medical imaging seems to be fundamental in this diagnostic research and the purpose of this work is to highlight his role. In the first part, there are reminders on malignant tumors, with a classification including all these entities and the TNM staging, both based on the latest editions published by the WHO. In a second time, a description of various radiological examinations seems necessary. Principle, advantages, disadvantages, as well as indications are detailed for each one of them. Subsequently, general criteria from imaging are developed, as well as those suggesting benignity or malignancy. Finally, each tumor is defined and described according to its general aspects, its imaging features and the exams used to achieve his diagnostic.
