Sentiment de compétition et performance chez des élèves de CE1 : le cas de la course de durée

Abstract : “My students do not cooperate!”. It is not uncommon to hear a teacher speak in these terms. A competitive climate can settle within a class very quickly and play on the motivation of students to enter the task, it is the case in all the disciplines but this fact is particularly striking in physical education. And if we could seize the competition to make a teaching tool? This is what we have attempted to achieve through this research in responding to the following question: How does competition influence the performance of year 3 students? The experiment consisted in creating a sequence in race articulating performance and competition with 24 year 3 students from a rural school. This study shows that a positive feeling of competition allows a significant improvement of the performance whereas this improvement is not significant in case of null or negative feeling.
