Étude du ressenti de la qualité de vie des sujets en situation de précarité pratiquant une activité physique adaptée régulière

Abstract : In our society dominated by globalization and urgentification, the concept of precariousness is gaining more and more space, with possible catastrophic effects on the quality of life of individuals affected by this situation. At the same time, there is growing awareness of the benefits of regular physical activity on objective and subjective overall health. Objective: to explore the feelings of people in precarious situations about their quality of life when regularly participating in adapted physical activity workshops. Methods: A qualitative study was carried out among people in precarious situations already attending on an association that promotes APA for all in Paris. Semi-directed interviews were conducted in a weekly fitness workshop and during a bi-monthly sports day organized by the association. Results: Eleven interviews were conducted in two different sites, via a single association. The thematic analysis and the triangulation work revealed a direct physical improvement with a positive modification of the perception of the body as well as an improvement of the ability to defend oneself. The practice of APA gave this so-called "vulnerable" population the opportunity to create fun, to serve as an emotional channeler, to create a social bond in order to regain a sense of belonging and security, with a decrease in the intake of toxic substances, to reinforce the belief in one's own abilities and finally a re-empowerment. Conclusion: The practice of regular APA contributes to improving the feeling of the subjects in precarious situations on the quality of life.
