Les politiques publiques de renouvellement urbain de trois bastides de rivière : une nouvelle stratégie de reconquête de centres-anciens en difficulté

Abstract : The first difficulties of theses three bastide towns appeared in the 80's with the development of consumer society, which emphasis on peri-urban and rural areas, which are considered more attractive. Incompatibilities between modern lifestyles and really dense and mineral medieval urban tissue have caused departure of an important amount of population, commerces and services to the periphery. A negative spiral of residential and commercial vacancy, degradation of the built frame and casualisation of the population settled down little by little. The local elected representatives recently became aware of these difficulties and asserted a real will of reconquest of bastide towns hearts' thanks to an adapted urban renewal public policy, mobilizing urban governance instruments. The objective is double : it's a question of improving at the same time quality of life of the inhabitants and attractiveness of bastide towns.
