Les huiles essentielles chez la personne âgée, conseil à l'officine

Abstract : As a young dispensary pharmacist since 2018, I have always been interested in alternative medicine such as homeopathy, aromatherapy and herbal medicine. The many health scandals of recent years have been an additional argument for deepening my knowledge in these disciplines. I quickly realized during my professional experience that these therapies were not recommended at the counter, often by lack of training pharmacists, despite the renewed interest of the general population. I chose to do my thesis on aromatherapy, ancestral discipline with surprising powers. The advice of essential oils in the elderly seemed interesting because it is a special class, fragile and often polymedicated, in which essential oils can cure or delay the use of classic allopathic effects often harmful. These therapies are not without risks and it is the duty of the pharmacist, expert of health products, to control them in order to deliver a safe and quality advice to the patient. My work is divided into different parts. The first is dedicated to the presentation of essential oils: definitions, regulations, chemical families, toxicity. The second focuses on physiological changes and pharmacokinetics of elderly and aromatic Board of common diseases in this population: arthritis, anxiety and insomnia, and winter conditions. This thesis allowed me to broaden my knowledge on essential oils and made me aware of the rigor and precautions that require their use. It has also allowed me to acquire ease in my daily practice and enrich myself personally.
