Méthodes alternatives au désherbage chimique : essais de paillages et couverts végétaux en pépinière plein champ de production d’arbres fruitiers et d’ornement

Abstract : In the context of regulatory changes and action plans to reduce the use of plant protection products, it is important to develop new ways of controlling weeds. The technical specifications of each system complicate the research for alternatives, which are nevertheless intensifying. It is in this context that experiments have been set up in the pépinières Chargé, a company th at produces trees in the full ground. The experiment focused on the development of mechanical weeding, the use of organic mulching and plant cover, with or without allelopathic properties. The various tests showed variable results depending on the technique used, with better weed control for organic mulches (straw and miscanthus). However, these alternatives have constraints, particularly in terms of costs, that are not found with the installation of plant cover (allelopathic or not). Those ones appear to be less effective in regulating weeds but have many other interests. If each technique has advantages and disadvantages, it is necessary to choose the method that best suits the growing system and weed control goals. The aim of these tests is to propose sustainable alternatives to weed chemical control to nurseries, with the creation of a tool to facilitate decision-making.
