La place du langage dans les interactions entre élèves dans une classe multi-âges de maternelle

Abstract : Interactions and language skills are at the heart of the preoccupations of a schoolteacher exercising in a nursery school. These two notions are inherent to the pupil’s development, as a much in his schooling years as in his future life. Such sociology related research work tries to understand the factors that can explain friendships between children aged 3 to 6 years old but also the place granted to language skills in these friendships and, consequently, the interactions. For this investigation, different sociological methods were used : from observations and brief interviews with pupils (planned as well as improvised interviews) or, moreover, analysis drawn up from videos filmed in my classroom, fact sheets or material gathered throughout this year during which I was able to exercise as a schoolteacher apprentice (pupils’ evaluation, behavior belts, …). It shows that friendship and interactions are explained by sociological facts such as the pupils’ school level, their behavior at school, gender or even the parents’ level of implication in school life. Beyond these social factors, the most important element seems be the langage skills: how can a pupil come into contact and interact with his peers if he or she is unable to make himself understood by other ?
