Master Thesis

Effet Rosenthal et filtre affectif

Abstract : This Master thesis examines the relation between two theories of social psychology: the Rosenthal Effect and the Affective Filter. The former, which encompasses both Pygmalion and Golem Effects, illustrates the impact of teachers’ assumptions on pupils’ behaviors and academic success. The latter examines three psychological and cognitive factors of language acquisition: motivation, confidence and anxiety. This dissertation aims at developing new tools to better understand the internal phenomena that result in either a Pygmalion Effect or a Golem Effect, in order to assess the teachers’ ability to consciously influence this internal process.
