Prise en charge médicamenteuse des ostéoradionécroses

Abstract : Maxillary osteoradionecrosis is a severe complication of radiotherapy used in the treatment of the head and neck malignant tumors. Osteoradionecrosis was first described in 1922 by Regaud, however its pathophysiology is still poorly understood and there is no specific protocol for its management although several theories have been proposed. The theory of radiation-induced fibrosis developed by Delanian allows the use of a drug protocol composed of pentoxyfillin, tocopherol and clodronate, called Pentoclo. The antioxidant action of Pentoclo allows both an improvement in the conservative management of the pathology and is effective as an adjuvant treatment to surgical management. The complexity of care lies in the decision to undertake radical treatment at the right time when it is necessary so as not to waste time for the patient, given the severity of osteoradionecrosis and its impact on its quality of life.
