L'enseignement des manipulations syntaxiques : au cycle 4 en classe de cinquième

Abstract : Syntactic manipulation is a theoretical tool developed by linguists and common among the various strands of distributional and generative grammar. These tools were further spread by new grammar methodologies and, today, are widely used by langage experts in grammatical analysis, whether syntactic, morphosyntactic, or semantic. However, these tools, wich are essentially absent from curricula -although increasingly found in textbooks - are largely unknown to students, who display difficulties both with analyzing the syntax of simple sentences and formulating well-reasoned grammatical analyses of language. This thesis aims to study the adaptation and teaching of these tools in the seventh grade. The goal is to help students more easily grasp the language system and increase their ability to analyze grammatical structure using reasoning based on syntactic manipulation. Thus, we are interested in educational and pedagogical choices to be used in instruction. This study covers topics from the discovery of grammatical manipulation tools to their independant use, by students to correct their grammatical spelling errors and to express grammatical reasoning using a strict metalanguage. Finally, the thesis includes an account of adjustements being made to ensure educational continuity during the COVID-19 crisis.
