De l’intérêt de faire intervenir l’empathie des élèves et d’utiliser des pratiques coopératives pour enseigner l’acceptation d’autrui

Abstract : This study is composed of the presentation of a unit we worked on with pupils around the age of seven and the analysis we made afterwards. The main goal of this unit is to teach children to accept the differences we have and refuse all forms of discrimination. A foreign child arrived into our school a few months ago and the children of the class have been experiencing difficulties to accept him. To learn how and why we need to respect each other, we need to experience it. That is the reason why the unit is essentially based on group activities and cooperation like philosophical debates and acting. Furthermore, we decided to provoke empathy many times to observe the impact it can have on the learning. At the end of the unit, the atmosphere in class is way more pleasant and the children seem to have learned all the notions we intended them to, especially when they relate to empathy.
