L’édition de mangas patrimoniaux en France

Abstract : From its beginnings, since the 90’s to nowadays, the japanese comics market has evolved significantly. There has been change since 2010 that led to the division of the area of edition, shared, on one hand, by the leaderships of the sector such as Glénat, Pika and Kana, historical publishing house belonging to large editorial groups, and, on the other hand, alternating publisher’s assembly. Historical publishing houses initiated an increasing phenomenon of republication over these last years. Generally making use of their catalogue again, finally leaning on the actuality in the same time, allowing the emphasis of their titles. Can we see there the willing of the publisher to make the works durable by being discovered by the new public, this same works that made them popular, or is it simply because of the lack of blockbuster they could lean on? For some publishing house as isan manga, Le Lézard noir, Cornélius or Black Box, the promotion of Japanese heritage was the editorial politics they wanted to focus on, concerning as much the works as the authors, both who, according to them, have impacted manga history. Thereupon, they proposed to center their catalogue over vintage, some part of the audience seemed to find their interest within bookshops, while specialized institutions showed recognition. Conclusively, this essay aims to analyse different editorial politics, through publishing house implement, and understand the impact over the French marketplace.
