Au cycle 1, peut-on explorer le monde en problématisant ? Le cas d’une séance sur la flottaison en grande section

Abstract : In this research work, I question the roles of language and handling, as well as their articulation, in the construction of knowledge in cycle 1. Does handling make it possible to construct empirical constraints which are sources of doubt and refutation explanatory models concerning buoyancy in my five years old students? The analysis of a class session on the buoyancy of objects, in reference to problematization theory, that I conducted with my students, serves to support this work, and allows me to advance that empirical constraints are created by handling. Language interactions, underpinned by these empirical constraints, seem to create a requirement concerning the buoyancy of objects. So in cycle 1, it seems possible to explore the world by problematizing.
