Mimétisme et anticonformisme : le cinéma de John Carpenter comme éloge d'une marginalité

Abstract : The purpose of this essay is to consider John Carpenter’s cinema as an allegory about social marginality, starting from the mimetic figure. Omnipresent in the director’s filmography, I thought it was intresting to try to highlight a possible porosity between mimicry and social conformism, and mostly to understand what was Carpenter’s goal with it. Carpenter is often studied in its status of outsiders compared to american production system, but from an almost social point of view, then I think that consider it from the works themselves is a productive approach.
