Impact de la température et de l’humidité sur les systèmes de mesure WPS (Wire Positioning System)

Abstract : CERN has been using the stretched wire method for many years for the alignment of accelerator components. Capacitive Wire Positioning Systems (WPS) are used to measure transversal offsets with respect to a stretched wire within a sub-micrometric resolution. Temperature and humidity are two knows parameters to influence WPS measurements. The alignment tolerances requested until now did not require these parameters to be considered. Their consideration is now becoming essential to ensure the necessary alignments for the future accelerators. The impact of temperature and humidity on the WPS systems was investigated through tests in climatic chamber.
