Enseigner la décolonisation et ses mémoires par le cinéma en classe de terminale

Abstract : In two history sessions, we set up two activities in which pupils study decolonisation through film documents (film extracts, public reception of a film). The aim is to analyse their work in terms of how the cinema has been thought by the teacher and to analyse the students' representations of the colonial past. In the first activity, trailers are used to reinforce the understanding of the complexity of decolonisation. Only the filmic narrative is used here. In the second activity, excerpt and trailer, supplemented by reactions to the release of a film, are used to articulate history and memories of the colonial past and to use the film as a historical source.
