Apport du flux numérique à la confection de plaques palatines passives chez les enfants atteints de fentes labio-palatines : une revue systématique de la littérature

Abstract : Cleft lip and palate are the most congenital malformations of the face in the world. The consequences are numerous: aesthetic, functional , psychological. Their management generally consists of surgical, orthodontic, orthopedic and prosthetic phases. Since 1950’s, many medical teams have used a palatal plate to fill the loss of substance created by the cleft and separate the oral and nasal cavities. However, the production of these plates presents risks, in particular when taking conventional impressions. This step is stressful for many inexperienced dentists. To mitigate these risks, the realization of palatal plates can be done thanks to a digital flow including a digital impression and a Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM). It is therefore important to ask, if the realization of palatal plate plates thanks to a digital flow reducing the risks associated with conventional impressions, is less stressful and more accessible for many practitioners. This systematic review of the literature shows the current state of knowledge and highlights the few studies on this subject. Despite this, the studies included in this research show real advantages of the digital flow protocol, such as security, time saving, and ease of implementation of the protocol.
