Douleur induite par la vaccination des jeunes enfants : pratiques, opinions et connaissances des parents

Abstract : Introduction : Vaccination is an essential prévention act. In general population, a recent decrease of vaccination adhesion is observed. One hypothesis to explain this decrease is that the pain associated with vaccination could affraid parents. The management of this pain seems to be a very important point to promote the vaccination in general population. However, despite lot of guidelines, studies found that the use of analgesic was not a common practice. The main aim of this study was to investigate the vaccination practices among parents. Methods : A survey was given to parents in december 2019. The main outcome was the rate of analgesic proposition during vaccination. Secondary outcoumes investigated the analgesic methods used and the parental knowledge about these medications. Results : 399 answers were analysed. Pain management was realised in 51.1% of cases. The main analgesic used was lidocaine patch. Two main factors which could influence this management were sociodemographic characteristics of parents but also the medical specialities of physicians. Although 93.7% of parents were concerned about their children's pain, they suffered of a lack of infomations about analgesic methods. We found that the information given by doctors was crucial for confidence and satisfaction to the parents. But physicians did not give this information commonly. Conclusion : Only one half of the physicians used analgesics diring vaccinations in chidren. The parents confidence and satisfaction could be improved by the informations given by the physicians. This point seems to be crucial for evolve the clinical practices.
