Le Syndrome d’Ehlers-Danlos parodontal

Abstract : Periodontal Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (pEDS) is a specific subtype of EDS. It is the rarest form of EDS, but it could be underdiagnosed. It associates early periodontal involvement with scarring skin patches in the pre-tibial areas. The specific periodontal involvement is ultimately poorly understood, it seems to start at puberty, and would consist of severe early periodontitis which can lead to edentulousness from the age of 30. A better description of periodontal disease would allow earlier detection and better guidance towards a genetic diagnosis of pEDS.
This work aims to raise awareness of pEDS, by detailing periodontal disease in particular, and thus offering better care to these patients. It will be carried out on the basis of a review of the literature.
