Les jeux de langage dans la philosophie des mathématiques de Wittgenstein

Abstract : Language games are, in general, ignored by commentators of Wittgenstein’s philosophy of mathematics. The aim of this dissertation is to show the relevance of the analysis of ordinary language by language games to understand mathematics. On the other hand, the therapeutic use of language games enable us to solve internal difficulties to Wittgenstein’s philosophy of mathematics. In addition, we get rid of many illusions of traditional conceptions of the philosophy of mathematics by the analysis of mathematics through our practice inside language games. Finally, through the concept of language games we propose a new understanding of the essential characteristics of mathematics (their objectivity and necessity) by placing them in our form of human life.
