Vécu d'un projet artistique de photographie par des patients d'une MSP à La Réunion

Abstract : Context : Art is now finding its place in care programs by demonstrating its positive influence on health. In Reunion Island, in 2019, the team of a multi-professional health center responded to a call for projects proposed by the Regional Health Agency and the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Reunion Island concerning artistic intervention within a care structure. The photography project "From momentum to movement" took place from June to August 2020 with ten patients, including two children, users of the primary health care center. In this study, it was chosen to explore the patients' lived experience of the project. Method : An exploratory qualitative study was conducted with eight adults participants of the project, based on the phenomenological interpretative analysis (IPA) of semi structured interviews conducted in the two months following the end of the project. Results : This project gave them the opportunity to experience creativity within a caring group, under the supervision of an artist committed to a care process. This initiation to art was a way for the participants to feel alive, to let go of their daily lives, to access their inner self (emotions, imagination, self-knowledge) and to discover their qualities and strengths. Weaknesses were also revealed, such as the difficulty of freeing themselves from the mind, and the difficulty of empowering. Conclusion : These results provide an insight into a holistic approach to care that takes into account all the dimensions of the individual (psychological, sociocultural, family realities, etc.).
