Implementation of a RTOS service for the management of the reconfiguration

Abstract

As technology evolves reconfigurable computing systems become more and more popular. This is because they offer flexibility and high performance. This Master Thesis has its main subject reconfigurable computing systems. In this document it is explained how a reconfigurable computing system is created. The reconfigurable computing system described in this document contains a processor on which a real time operating system is placed and an FPGA chip on which hardware tasks are runned. The operating system is the uC/OS-II operating system and it is modified to encompass a service that makes available for the operating system the dynamic partial reconfiguration technique. This technique is used on the FPGA chip and it makes possible the dynamical swapping of the hardware tasks than run on the FPGA.
