Approche des contraintes physiques lors du travail de la vigne en traction animale équine en Gironde

Abstract : Equine animal traction is now back in the work of the soil in the Gironde vineyards. However, the profession of horse leader remains unknown. The objective of this work was to make an analysis of the physical constraints on this position. Vineyards companies and service companies were selected after completing three questionnaires on their work and equipment. Job studies were realized to describe the physical constraints, equipment, work environment and horse leaders' feelings. Twelve leaders were observed, including 5 women and 7 men, in 6 companies. The tools were old, new or of personal design and generated different constraints, at the back and the upper limbs. The working environment is variable and can have an impact on physical constraints. Horse leaders felt pain in 58% of cases. Traction work tools seem to be the main modifiable factor to reduce physical stresses. Bilateral tools for the walking horse leaders seem to be the least physically constraining tools. Qualifying training does not seem to have an impact on physical constraints but could reduce the risk of accidents to horses. The reported pains seem to be biased by the professional co-activities of the horse leaders. The rapid walk of the walking horse leaders would be rather beneficial on the risk of low back pain. The ergonomics of the tools and the training of horse leaders stand out as areas of prevention in occupational medicine, in order to limit physical constraints.
