Le rôle de la verbalisation et des interactions verbales dans la compréhension du système orthographique français : exemple de la négociation graphique au cycle 3

Abstract : The teaching of spelling in elementary school remains an object of research in its own right as practices seem to struggle to evolve in this field and remain "traditional"... An innovative dictation system has already proven its worth in terms of the progression of the spelling level: the graphic negotiation workshops, or negotiated dictations. The objective of this study is to understand the role played by verbalization and verbal interactions in understanding spelling rules in negotiated dictation situations. The methodological approach, tested in a cycle 3 class, makes it possible to report on the interventions and exchanges allowing students to mobilize spelling rules in order to solve a spelling problem. This study shows that it is through exchanges that students regulate certain rules, but that they do not necessarily use them properly, which then allows the teacher to detect and evolve erroneous conceptions about grammatical spelling.
