L'apport de l'aménagement paysager des Lignes de Bus à Haut Niveau de Service

Abstract : Since the implementation of the first bus with high level of services (BHLS) in Rouen ( France), the concept of “BHLS” keep developing itself and seducing cities. Created to solve the problem of congestion of inner cities and of the cost of tramways, the BHLS is a intermediary transportation system which allow to structure public transportation network in context where heavy systems are not consistent. But, more than a transportation system, the BHLS approach is a systemic one, which regroups rolling material, road infrastructure, exploitation and communication. But, Should the quality of living environment be part of the quality of service? How Landscape design can improve the use and the integration of BHLS Lines? Through the study of the new BHLS Line of Bethune – Bruay (France), on site studies and interviews, this work will try to answer to this question. After identifying issues linked to the BHLS, we’ll use examples of projects to show that landscape design is an excellent tool in the service of BHLS.
